John Ellis
CEO - Middle East Aerospace Consortium
John Ellis is an experienced aviation specialist with over 25 years in airline
related business. John started his career in the design of fire detection
systems for airports and aircraft hangars in 1982. The development of the
concept led to a business which provided inflight fire safety consultancy and
fire fighting advice to airlines in the UK and around the world. As the founding
managing director, John sold the business in 1989 to a major UK fire safety
company. |
Following this early aviation success John went on to form a training company
providing specialist consultancy for air disaster analysis and training. The
company developed from analysing air disasters to subsequently developing
materials which could show training instructors, pilots and flight attendants
how the incident developed, and the lessons learnt to prevent a reoccurance. The
analysis of high profile incidents including the Manchester air disaster, M1
Kegworth air disaster, Lockerbie air disaster and the El/Al air disaster at
Schipol led to consultancy and training work with a variety of organisations
including Virgin Atlantic and regulatory authorities such as CAA, the UK Civil
Aviation Authority.
By the early 90’s the company was providing specialist training programmes and
video courses to 150 airlines worldwide with the development of packages which
instructed pilots and cabin crew in the practical aspects of safety and
emergency procedures. As part of this programme the business opened a purpose
built training centre at Gatwick Airport which housed two aircraft cabin
simulators including a Boeing 747- one of the world’s most commonly used
aircraft. By 2000 the business was training over 10,000 cabin crew per year as
well as instructor training courses for more than 200 airlines worldwide. During
this eventful period of his career, John was frequently asked to lecture at
airline conferences on aviation safety across the world in such diverse
locations as Russia, the USA and Spain.
In 2000 a new division ‘aviationjobsearch.com’ was formed to satisfy the growing
demand for the provision of cabin crew, pilots and engineers on behalf of his
training clients. The web site was an instant success, quickly becoming the
largest of its type in the world, attracting over 300,000 unique visitor
sessions per month. This business was subsequently sold by John in 2005 to a
major UK publishing company, and to this day, the web site continues to be a
success. In 2007, John was appointed Business Development Director for the
Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC), the UK’s leading regional aerospace
trade association, supporting over 900 South East England aviation related
businesses. John has been fundamental to the development of two offices in the
UAE, with 10 initial members generating over $16 million of business in its
first six months of activity. John Ellis has travelled extensively across the
world in the course of his aviation career, generating over $49,4 million for
aviation organisations he has been involved with. He is married with two young
children and is based in Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates. He is a
qualified NLP Business Coach and has published two books; 28 Golden Rules of
Business Success and 28 Golden Rules of Customer Service. |
