Khaleej Times - Green conference to begin on Feb 23

DUBAI — Zayed University will host its first Green Transportation and Logistics Conference (GTLC) on February 23 and 24 in association with the Ministry of Environment and Water, and the Ministry of Economy.
The two-day conference and exhibition will attract experts at both the national and international level who are specialised in the areas of green transport and logistics and provide a platform for green companies and individuals to interact.
The Green Transportation and Logistics Conference will be designed to provide senior-level professionals of transportation, logistics and supply chain sectors with the opportunity to learn about the processes and technologies which can be implemented to measure and reduce their company’s carbon footprint, save energy, comply with environmental regulations, manage their suppliers and partners, achieve a sustainable transport network, cut costs and communicate all of these efforts to their customers, partners and the public.
Dr Sulaiman Al Jassim, vice-president of Zayed University said: “The conference is another initiative by Zayed University to highlight the importance of sustainable living as it will provide decision makers in the areas of transport and logistics to share good practice and learn about new technologies that will limit the carbon emissions in their respective industries.”
Attendees will benefit from obtaining up-to-date information on source emissions, monitoring, exposure assessment, health effects and risk assessment.
The event will form an opportunity to consolidate networking with international environmental health experts and will allow policy makers, regulators, and private industry from Arab countries to have the information, which will be valuable towards their efforts to achieve sustainable development.
The conference will focus on the following themes: Green Transportation and Logistics, Sustainable Logistics and Environment: Green Initiatives in the UAE, Energy Efficient Warehouse, Green Aviation and Corporate Social Responsibility, Green Airports, Energy Management, and Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility.
